Before

"My about recent and longest undertaking has been the kitchen. The room itself was large, but was divided past the overhanging cupboards and a peninsula in the traditional 60'south mode! Nosotros started the demo by ripping out the overhead cupboards, soffit and peninsula. Lots of holes, and lots and lots of dust were created to get the blank sail I needed to get started. We decided to reuse the peninsula as the island and build a pantry next to the old cabinets to supervene upon the overhanging cabinet infinite I had lost. Afterward removing the overhanging cupboards, I was left with a hole in my existing cupboards and no cupboard door to fit. By turning lemons into lemonade, I reused one of the old doors and built a mail/bill slot underneath the door that looks similar information technology was there all along! My dad and I built everything down to the double pullout trash can…one tin for trash, the other for my gold retriever Gracie'due south dog food. Pullout shelves in the pantry were added for ease of finding things in my new cabinet, and using my creative talents, I designed and made the steel plate dividing my refrigerator and stove keeping the gas stove flames at bay.

Solving the obstacles one by ane, we transformed the 1960'south kitchen into my dream kitchen…from the luxury laminate vinyl floor planks, right downwardly to the leathered granite counter tops nosotros used. The transformation was awe-inspiring! Nonetheless, it was not only a physical transformation, only also an emotional one. The countless hours and memories I have made with my dad are treasured and can never exist replaced! He is a humble man and the love, admiration and appreciation that I have for him is too big to measure! Then, with the central portion of the house completed, and the main pink bathroom and basement remodels on the horizon, I know, with my dad by my side, my house volition become my forever dream habitation, one smash at a time! — Denise
